March 19, 2010

Today was our last day at Disney!!!!  This has been a fun and tiring week.  We've been to Magic Kingdom (twice), Epcot and Hollywood Studios and have seen a lot and we're sad to leave but happy to be going home at the same time.  Whoever said that Disney is the happiest place on Earth was on the money.

Today was Emma's 7th Birthday and we started out the birthday celebration with a breakfast at Cape May.  We were able to see Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy!  In fact Donald Duck helped sing happy birthday to our special birthday girl.  We then headed back to Magic Kingdom for our last day and explored Frontierland and other areas of the park we had yet to see.  The weather was gorgeous as well.  After spending another 6 hours in Magic Kingdom we let the girls say goodbye to Cinderella's Castle and we headed off to dinner and celebrated Emma's birthday as well.

We are all packed and ready for our trip back to Ohio tomorrow.  We hope you have enjoyed our blog as well as the pictures.  We really enjoyed the trip and wanted to share with everyone else as well.

Last Day at Disney

March 18, 2010

Hi All!!

So tomorrow March 19th, 2010, Brian and I will have a 7 year old.  That's right Emma is turning 7 years old.  She is growing up so fast and we can hardly believe it.  To help celebrate her birthday we are going to a Character breakfast with Minnie Mouse, Mickey Mouse, Goofy and Donald Duck.  We are then hitting the Magic Kingdom for a second day and getting ready to return home.

So for our activities today we decided to take a day off from the parks and relax at the pool.  It was only in the low 60s today, but with a heated pool and sun we all still swam.  Additionally mommy forgot to put sunscreen on everyone today so even though it was super cloudy and 60 some of us got a little toasty...  I keep forgeting we're in Florida and Sunscreen is needed at all times.

Tonight we hit Raglan's Pub for dinner, it's an Irish Pub that had terrific food and of course we could enjoy a nice Guinness as well.  We then explored Pleasure Island and the rest of Downtown Disney and saw a huge Lego store and for anyone that knows Emma it was pure pleasure for her to go into the Lego Store.  Additionally we went into the massive Disney Store and Ella fell in love with the store and loved the Princess Section.  So thank you Uncle Mark and Aunt Christy for the new Belle Dress!

We are pooped and ready for our last day tomorrow, but we are excited to come home as well.  Hope this finds everyone well.

March 16, 2010 Updated

We went to Magic Kingdom today and as everyone says it is the happiest place on earth.  We were fast passing it all day and it made a huge difference.  The lines for fast pass are much shorter and so much easier to deal with the girls when you do so.

The day started out at the opening of the park at 9:00 am.  They do a magnificent job getting everyone excited to go into the park and we were not the exception.  We then moved on to getting our fast pass for Space Mountain and by the time we got it the fast pass was good for 10:35 - 11:35 a good 2 1/2 hours from when we got there, we moved on to Fantasy Land and met Ariel and Tigger and Pool as well as rode the Snow White ride.  After that it was almost time to go and ride Space Mountain so we headed on over to the Space Mountain area and while daddy and Emma rode, Ella and Mommy waited at the bottom.  The best thing about Disney is that they are super accomodating to families with young children.  Once Emma was done riding Space Mountain with Brian then I rode with her right after she got off.  Yes that's right, Emma got to ride Space Mountain twice over the course of 20 minutes...  We then did some "Ella Friendly" things which Disney has a ton of and took a break to then watch Mickey's show on Main Street, shortly after we got caught up in the parade and got to stop and watch as well.  By 4:00 we were in need of a break and headed back to the resort to relax.  After we got our second wind as well as dinner, we headed back to the Magic Kingdom, just in time for the evening parade and got some great pictures as well.

Tomorrow we are headed to Epcot and we're excited to see how the girls compare the two parks.

March 15, 2010

To bring you up to speed, the first two days (Sat/Sun) we spent the time at the pool at the hotel as well as then went on a Helicopter ride.  Then today the Caldwell family ventured out to Hollywood Studios.  We thought we would start the Disney experience with an easier lower key park first.

The day started out with a visit to Ariel's under the Sea adventure and it was a nice way to start out the day.  The show was terrific and the girls had a blast.  From there we got our first "fast pass" to at the Toy Story ride and found out that we couldn't go back to the ride until 4:30.  We thought WOW what a popular ride this must be.  After we got our fast pass we headed over  to meet Mickey Mouse and got our picture taken with the big guy.  This is when Emma got in trouble, when she bonked Mickey on the nose and then pulled the cord on his cape.  Thankfully that was the only time she got in trouble.  Later in the day we saw the Lights Camera Action Show which is a stunt show and Emma was enthralled!  She loved every moment of it.  We then headed to the Star Wars adventure and Emma again was my thrill seeker and enjoyed it, while Ella looked at Brian and I and said "this is not a fun ride".  Afterwards she was fine, while Emma was ready for the next ride.  We stopped and watched the Block Party where Emma and Ella danced with the Pixar characters and had a blast.  Finally it was time to head over to the Tower of Terror.  We had decided after the Star Wars ride we weren't going to have Ella ride it, so while Emma and daddy rode the Tower of Terror, mommy and Ella went and saw Beauty and the Beast.  Daddy said Emma had a great time on the ride and it was quite suspenseful, so I am glad that we didn't take Ella on the ride.  Finally, it was time to use our fast pass for the Toy Story Ride and it was definitely worth the wait.  We had a blast!!!  After all of that we were pretty tuckered out and it was time to head back to the hotel.

Tomorrow we are headed to the resort at Disney and Magic Kingdom is on the list.  The girls have their autograph books ready and we are very excited for another fun day at Disney.

Welcome

This is the Caldwell Family blog written by me the "mom" Erin about our travels to Walt Disney World in March of 2010.  I will update the blog each day of our trip (although I am already 2 days behind), with our happenings along with some pictures from the day.
